Overview
Olpajeta Conservancy
The Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a 90,000-acre (360 km2) not-for-profit wildlife conservancy in Central Kenya's Laikipia County. It is situated on the equator west of Nanyuki, between the foothills of the Aberdares and Mount Kenya. The Ol Pejeta Conservancy works to conserve wildlife, provide a sanctuary for great apes and to generate income through wildlife tourism and complementary enterprises for re-investment in conservation and community development.
The Conservancy boasts the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa, and in 2013 reached a population milestone of 100 black rhino. It also houses the three remaining northern white rhino in the world, who were moved here from Dvůr Králové Zoo in the Czech Republic. The Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary is situated here, and provides a haven for orphaned, abandoned and rescued chimpanzees.

Day 1
Nairobi – Sweetwaters / Ol Pejeta
This morning we depart Nairobi for your 3 Days Sweetwaters Conservancy Safari Tour and proceed north, driving through lush tea and coffee estates to Sweetwaters Tented Camp. Sweetwaters land, the Ol Pejeta Conservancy and its sumptuous ranch were once the private domain of famed multi-millionaire, Adnan Kashoggi. We visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, a charming haven established by the Jane Goodall Institute to provide sanctuary to orphaned chimps, and the specially protected and fenced refuge of black rhino with its stunning forty specimens! In fact Sweetwaters boasts excellent game viewing with the highest ratio of game to area of any park or reserve in Kenya. Moreover, the camp has its own private waterhole and salt lick so we’ll be guaranteed unprecedented close encounters. Whether its day or night game drives, camel trekking, lion tracking, al fresco dining or relaxing by pool, Sweetwaters is bound to delight.

Explore Sweetwaters/Ol Pejeta Sanctuary
Today we explore exotic Sweetwaters Sanctuary on two extensive game runs. Our camp also overlooks one of the busiest waterhole’s in the area and offers elephant, giraffe and myriad plains game. This is Africa as Teddy Roosevelt saw it years ago when he led one of the first safaris to tour Africa in comfort and splendor. Our tents at Sweetwaters will remind us of this bygone era. Sweetwaters/Ol Pejeta – Nairobi
An early morning game drive in Ol Pejeta Sweetwaters Conservancy. The Conservancy boasts an astounding variety of animals including all the "Big Five" (the endangered black rhino, leopard, elephant, buffalo and lion). The combination of amazing wildlife and stunning views across the open plains of Ol Pejeta guarantees an unforgettable safari experience. After breakfast depart by road to Nairobi. How much does the 3 Days Sweetwaters Conservancy cost?
The 3 Days Sweetwaters Conservancy costs $600 per person. That price includes all park and conservancy entry fees, accommodation on the stated board basis, a licensed driver-guide, the 4x4 safari vehicle and fuel, and all game drives listed in the itinerary. International flights, visas, insurance, tips and personal items are not included.
How long is the 3 Days Sweetwaters Conservancy?
This itinerary runs 3 days, starting and ending in Nairobi. It is a private departure, so the dates are yours to choose and the pace can be adjusted. If you would like more or less time in Kenya Safari, we can rebuild the itinerary around that.
How many people will be in my safari vehicle?
Six at most, and that is a hard cap. Our Land Cruisers seat seven, so there is always a spare seat and every guest has a window and unobstructed access to the pop-up roof hatch. A fully private vehicle is available on any itinerary for a supplement.
When is the best time to do this Kenya Safari trip?
July to October is peak season, with the Mara River crossings and the best trekking weather, and it carries the highest rates. March to May is the long rains: green landscapes, newborn game, very few vehicles and the lowest prices of the year. January to February is dry, hot and excellent for general game viewing. There is no bad month, only months that suit different things.
